Prior to joining The Animal Hospital of South Gorham in fall of 2003, Dr. Niedermeyer managed and provided veterinary coverage for the Animal Emergency Clinic in Portland. He enjoys the wide variety of patients seen at our clinic and our long term association with clients. Fish medicine, chelonians, geese, sheep and goats are his particular interests. Dr. Niedermeyer and his family recently started showing and breeding dairy goats; they enjoy the milk and cheese. He is an avid gardener when his daughters leave him a little peace and quiet. |

We are very proud of our support staff. They are committed to providing you and your pets with the best care possible. Our staff consists of compassionate, sympathetic individuals who receive continued training in all aspects of small and exotic animal care. Please feel free to discuss your concerns with them. They can relay your questions to the veterinarians to facilitate more timely answers. Emma is a local gal who joined us following a summer internship in 2002. She is a licensed veterinary technician, having graduated from The University college of Bangor in 2005. She is the quiet, compassionate presence in the examination room and an exceptionally skilled anesthesiologist. Emma particularly enjoys the variety of critters that we see. Meghan joined our staff in 2003. She is a 1997 graduate of the Thompson School at the University of New Hampshire. Meghan keeps herself in coffee money by assisting us on weekends. Her full time occupation is care of her daughters, three cats and two rabbits.
JoAnne has the dubious honor of being our most longstanding employee, having started with us in 1998. She is our true “Maine-ah”. JoAnne fulfills the role of receptionist/assistant, having come to us from “Invisible Fence”. We happily share her with her family (especially her grandchildren), and her Labrador retriever “Scout”.
Lisa is the little canids’ superlative comforter. She maintains order in our front office and hers is the voice most often addressing your non-veterinary concerns. Lisa is devoted to her collection of little dogs, which is why our little dog patients take to her so readily.
Amanda obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Maine in Farmington in 2005. She is our veterinary technicians’ assistant. Her special interests include the preservation of endangered species, the piping plover in particular. Amanda is a self declared cat lover whose free time is taken up by her daughter and three cats.
Marie is studying preveterinary medicine at the University of Maine in Orono. She takes time away from her cattle and sheep to gain veterinary experience with us.
Magdalena is a local high school student who would like to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She is particularly interested in horses, and also spends time accompanying a large animal veterinarian on her rounds.
